Corsa dei Ceri

Historical re-enactment of the ancient procession at the death of Sant’Ubaldo, bishop and patron of Gubbio, the Corsa dei Ceri is a large religious festival that sees three gigantic wooden “cars” transported through the climbs, downhills and alleys of the city up to the Basilica of Monte Ingino.

On these machines the statues of Sant’Ubaldo, San Giorgio and Sant’Antonio Abate stand out like “Ceri” and are transported among the shouts of the crowd to the Basilica where they are greeted by bells that ring to party!
