Among the various manifestations, cortexes, processions, luminaries, bursts of fences, fences, there was the Palio, a game in which contrada, neighborhoods or individual citizens participated and which had the Palio prize, a banner or drape of beautiful and Good cloth.
The current Palio della Balestra between the cities of Gubbio and Sansepolcro is therefore a continuation of those competitions that took place in the fifteenth century among civilian champions.
Since then, except for short and justified breaks due to the war, the Palio of the Balestra has always been on the run.
